Address Change
If you move, you must update your address on both your driver’s license or ID and vehicle registration within 30 days of changing your address.
Please Note
- Once an address has been changed, a new registration must be issued reflecting the new address by submitting a completed Application For Duplicate or Lost in Transit/Reassignment for a Motor Vehicle, Mobile Home, or Vessel Title Certificate.
- By updating your address on your driver’s license or ID, we will automatically update your electronic title.
- A printed title will reflect your previous address until a new title is applied for. To apply for a new title, complete the Application for Certificate of Title With/Without Registration for a Motor Vehicle, Mobile Home, or Vessel.
- Updating your address with the U.S. Postal Service does not update your motor vehicle records.
- Updating your address for traffic, toll or other violations does not update your motor vehicle records.
How to Change Your Address on Your Driver’s License or ID
Cost
- Online: $27.00 ($25.00 plus $2.00 processing fee)
- In Person: $31.25 plus 2.39% credit/debit card processing fee (minimum $2.00)
What to Bring
REAL ID compliance is indicated by a star on the upper right-hand corner of your Florida driver's license or ID.
1. Are You Real ID Compliant?
- Yes, I have a star: If you are currently REAL ID compliant, you only need to provide your address change documents (see #2 below). You must provide two acceptable documents, either original documents or physical copies—digital versions won’t be accepted.
- No, I do not have a star or I do not currently have a Florida driver's license or ID: If you are not currently REAL ID compliant, you must bring documents that validate your identity, Social Security Number (SSN) and Orange County residential address. For most customers, those documents are 1) your birth certificate or passport and 2) your social security card and 3) two proofs of Orange County residential address.
2. Acceptable Documents for Proof of Address
This is a sample list of documents that can be used to verify your Orange County residential address. Other documents may also be accepted.
- Household documents: Deed, mortgage, monthly mortgage statement, or lease/rental agreement
- Florida voter registration card
- Valid Florida vehicle/vessel registration or title
- Utility bills: Water, gas, electricity, cell phone, or cable*
- Automobile payment booklet*
- Selective Service card*
- Medical card or bill*
- Insurance policy or bill: Homeowner’s or automobile*
- Employer documentation: W-2, 1099, or paycheck stub*
- Letter from a homeless shelter or transitional service provider verifying residence*
- Financial statements: Bank, credit cards, or investment accounts*
- Government mail/documents: Federal, State, County, or City*
- Sexual Offender/Predator/Career Offender: Certification of Address, Section A, and FDLE Registration form completed by the local sheriff's department*
*These documents must be dated within the last 30 days.
Envelopes are not accepted as proof of address.
If You Cannot Provide Two Proofs of Address
If you are unable to provide two acceptable proofs of Orange County residency, a certifier (e.g., a parent, spouse, or someone you live with) can use the Certification of Address form to confirm your residency. The certifier must go with you to your appointment and sign the form in front of our staff, or sign the form in front of a notary.
When filling out the form, the certifier must provide two documents proving their address. One of these must be a deed, mortgage, recent mortgage statement, or rental/lease agreement. The second document can be a utility bill, voter card, vehicle registration, or other approved paperwork, as long as it’s recent. See the list above for acceptable proofs of address.
Please note: customers and certifiers must show original documents or physical copies—digital versions won’t be accepted.
Name Change
If you legally change your name, you must update your name on both your driver’s license or ID and vehicle registration within 30 days after changing your name.
Name changes my only be completed in person. Customers cannot change their name on their driver’s license or ID online.
Immigrant and Nonimmigrant VISA Holders
Customers who have legally changed their name by marriage, divorce or court order must update their USCIS documents to reflect their name change before they can update their name on their driver's license or ID.

Change Your Name in Person

2. Name Change Documents
If you have legally changed your name by marriage, divorce or court order, you must submit an original or certified U.S. marriage certificate(s), U.S. divorce document(s) or other court order(s). Copies are not accepted unless certified by the issuing authority.
Marriage certificates must be recognized by the state of Florida. Generally, marriage certificates issued in Florida or another state in accordance with the respective laws of those states are recognized by the State of Florida. Church-issued marriage certificates are not accepted.
Certified copies of marriage certificates or divorce decrees may be obtained at the Clerk of Court in the county where it was originally filed.
