Orange County Tax Collector Scott Randolph today announced that Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando, in partnership with CARE Feline TNR, Florida Animal Friend and the Tax Collector’s Office, will offer free spay/neuter services for feral cats on the second and fourth Wednesday in June. Pet Alliance, the area’s largest animal welfare organization, will station its Mobile Spay/Neuter Clinic at the Tax Collector’s East Orange office (10051 University Blvd., Orlando) on the following dates:
- Wednesday, June 8 – 7:30 am to 5:00 pm
- Wednesday, June 22 – 7:30 am to 5:00 pm
East Orlando area residents may drop off feral cats, often called stray or community cats, at the Mobile Clinic on June 8 or June 22 at 7:30 am. Cats must be presented in a confined feral cat carrier. Participants are encouraged to make an appointment online at carefelinetnr.setmore.com.
“In addition to providing top-notch services for our customers, our goal is to open the Tax Collector’s Office to residents through community partnerships,” Tax Collector Scott Randolph said. “We’re hopeful that our partnership with Pet Alliance will make a positive impact on the lives of residents and community cats in East Orlando.”
Feral cats are domestic cats but have little to no contact with humans and cannot be adopted. Through Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) programs, residents can greatly improve the lives of community cats, eliminating the behaviors and stress associated with mating – pregnancy, yowling and fighting.
“Through this wonderful partnership, we are helping reduce the number of free-roaming cats through spaying and neutering,” said Dr. Becky Rhoades, Clinic Director, Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando.
Here’s what participants need to know:
- The program is sponsored through a grant from Florida Animal Friend
- Space is limited, so please arrive early; sign-up begins at 7:30 am each day
- Cats must arrive in a confined feral cat carrier
Cats must be picked up between 4:00 pm and 5:00 pm for return
