“In Orange County, we’re blessed with the most talented and creative students you’ll find anywhere,” Tax Collector Scott Randolph said. “I want to thank every student that participated in this year’s Kids Tag Art contest – you’re all winners.”

Thirteen schools participated in Randolph’s inaugural contest, held in partnership with Orange County Public Schools (OCPS). The overall winner, which Randolph selected, is Sarahi Alfaro of Azalea Park Elementary in Orlando. For her license plate, Sarahi designed one of Orlando’s most iconic images, Lake Eola Park. Sarahi drew a white swan swimming in front of the famous Lake Eola fountain. As part of the contest, Randolph will display Sarahi’s plate on his car for one year.

The other winners, selected by their school principals, are:

  • Natalia Bylinska, Rock Springs Elementary
  • Rayya Mohammed, Wyndham Lakes Elementary
  • Makyle Young, Kaley Elementary
  • Santiago Rincon, Three Points Elementary
  • Christian Caldero, Killarney Elementary
  • Scott Dera, Sadler Elementary
  • Heather Yates, Westbrooke Elementary
  • Ibrahim Erado, Lake Silver Elementary
  • Sarahi Alfaro, Azalea Park Elementary
  • Elijah Pabon, Ventura Elementary
  • Fiona Cornely, Wolf Lake Elementary
  • Nathalia Melendez, Wolf Lake Elementary
  • Jayden Dewey, Pershing Elementary
  • Alexis Peterkin, Deerwood Elementary

Tax Collector Randolph will recognize the winners at an awards ceremony on Tuesday, May 24 at 5:30 pm at Nemours Children’s Hospital in Lake Nona. Each winner will be presented with a specialty plate printed with their own design.

Kids Tag Art began in Polk County in 2007. Tax Collector Scott Randolph, together with the Orange County School Board and Orange County Public Schools, initiated the program in Orange County at the start of this current school year. In total, 577 student-drawn license plate designs were submitted. Randolph said he hopes to expand the program to every elementary school in Orange County.

Linda Kobert, Orange County School Board Member, District 3, said,  “I was so pleased to find the opportunity for OCPS to partner with Scott Randolph and the Orange County Tax Collector’s Office to bring Kids Tag Art to our schools. Teaching our children how to support worthy causes while supporting our arts programs is a win-win for kids and our community.”

Each of the 577 designs will be made available to the public to view and order at a cost of $28 per plate. Proceeds from Kids Tag Art will benefit the art program in each participating school and the Orange County Education Foundation.
