Tax Collector Scott Randolph and the Auto Club Group Traffic Safety Foundation Partner on Summer Safety Campaign

Orange County Tax Collector Scott Randolph and AAA’s Auto Club Group Traffic Safety Foundation are joining forces in July to encourage motorists to drive safely this summer. Through the Summer Safety campaign, the Orange County Tax Collector’s Office, which operates seven tag agencies across Orange County, will promote the importance of smart driving on the roads, especially since many families are traveling for vacations.

According to AAA, U.S. motorists are expected to set a record for the number of miles driven during the traditionally busy July 4th holiday weekend. Of the nation’s anticipated 43 million travelers this weekend, nearly 85 percent – or more than 36 million people – will travel by automobile.

“July 4th is almost always the busiest travel holiday of the year,” Orange County Tax Collector Scott Randolph said. “Today our office is focused on reminding the thousands of motorists that come through our doors to drive safely this weekend and every day.”

“The summer can be a dangerous driving season and we applaud Scott Randolph and his staff for helping raise awareness of the need to be fully focused behind the wheel,” said Amy Stracke, Executive Director, Auto Club Group Traffic Safety Foundation. “By working together, we can provide education and tools to thousands of motorists in Orange County to keep them out of harm’s way.”

The Orange County Tax Collector’s Office will be highlighting the resources and programs available for teen drivers to learn how to reduce crash risk and avoid distracted driving. There will also be information available for parents to help them navigate the rules of the road together with their new drivers.

“The Auto Club Group Traffic Safety Foundation has many educational programs that provide needed assistance, training and other services to ensure Orange County drivers, passengers, bicyclists and pedestrians get to their destinations safely,” said Tax Collector Randolph. “This partnership is a great alignment between two organizations that care about making communities safer.”

Tax Collector offices will also encourage customers to donate $1 or more to the Auto Club Group Traffic Safety Foundation in support of lifesaving traffic safety programs.
